Martin introduced Style 16 acoustic guitars in 1961 in order to provide an affordable, high-quality Martin instrument with understated appointments. These were the first Martin acoustic guitars to utilize sustainable, native woods such as ash and walnut, as well as the first to implement hybrid A-frame "X" bracing.
